A Different Way to Practice Medicine
The heart of good medical care is the relationship between you and your physician. Knowing who you are and what is important to you helps me find the best solutions and treatment choices for you. But getting to know you takes time, time that many doctors don't seem to have these days. In my practice I take the time to get to know you and your family. As a family physician, I am trained to treat people of all ages, from newborns to seniors.
My goal is to recreate a small town medical practice and remove as many barriers as possible in between a patient and a physician.
My practice offers:
• Same or next day appointments
• Physician availability 24/7 via e-mail or cellphone
• House calls available by appointment
• Extended physician appointments (usually at least 30 minutes and up to 60 minutes for annual physicals)
Along with old fashioned values, I also use technology to help provide you with the best care:
• Booking your own appointments online
• E-prescribing (sending prescription refills online to the pharmacy of your choice)
• Convenient online communication via e-mail or secure private messaging
• Computerized medical records so I can access your medical information quickly and easily
• Online medical references to help me provide you with the latest evidence-based medical advances
In order for me to provide these services, I keep my patient panel smaller than most traditional practices so that I have more time to take care of my patients' medical needs.
In order to keep my practice smaller, I keep my expenses low by having no receptionist or nurse. Everything is done by me. This model of medical practice is also known as a "micropractice". A micropractice is a new name for an old style of medical practice. This is a back-to-basics, one doctor office.
Benefits to patients:
• You always see the same doctor at every visit.
• No or little waiting in the waiting room.
• You spend more time with the doctor.
• If you have an urgent matter after hours, you can call me on my cellphone.
• You will have a doctor who knows you and provides you with hands-on care.
In order to provide these services, I charge an additional membership fee to pay for "non-covered benefits" such as the extra service, longer visit times, and ease of accessibility that my practice provides. Some other medical practices (also known as concierge medicine practices) offer the same services as above but with fees ranging from $100 to $1000 a month. Because I charge a much lower fee, some people consider my practice a "mini-concierge practice".
Toward the goal of greater transparency of medical costs, I have posted my current Fee Schedule under "Prices and Fees".
